This post is sponsored by As You Wish Pottery, but all opinions, plates and fun times had are completely my own.
I’ve decided that I want to start a new tradition here on Ask A Designer Now. Sometimes in life, we have to live vicariously through other people. That’s why we all love blogs and Pinterest….it gives us a bird’s eye view into other people’s lives! Occasionally I find myself going on various designer adventures. But not nearly often enough. Enter Designer Field Trips! Now, as I’m out and about on designer errands, I’m going to take you guys along with me so you can see the behind the scenes life of interior design. And if that means I need to go shopping for fun house things a little more often, then I’ll make that sacrifice! Anything for my Ask A Designer Now friends. Today I’m sharing with you my first (of many) Designer Field Trips. I hope you enjoy it almost as much as I did.
I recently took a Designers Field Trip to As You Wish Pottery and had such a great time! As you may or may not have heard, artisan crafted items are a hot trend this year. But who’s to say you can’t be the artisan?!
A lot of people think of these fun pottery painting places as just for kids, but I had kid-worthy fun looking through all of their fun and choosing the just right piece. Over the last few years, I’ve developed a love of sugar skulls. I love how colorful and fun they are! With all the bare white walls I have in my house right now, I just knew we needed a colorful sugar skull painted by an amateur artisan (aka….me!).
The process is super simple….you can choose from their large selection exactly what you want to paint. They supply the paint, brushes, and all the help you need. The artists that work there really are so happy to help with anything! Once you’re done, they take care of the firing. When you return to pick it up, you have a beautiful, hand crafted art piece for your home. This girly sugar skull is destined for a place of honor in my bohemian chic kitchen. Because any sugar skull in this house is going to include a flower crown and lovely lashes. Obviously.
I’m thinking that this has Girls Night written all over it!! A little friend therapy and art therapy wrapped up with some custom home decor wrapping! A perfect combination to me!
